empowering young women worker to attain decent work

The Decisions for Life Campaign was initiated by The Wage Indicator Foundation and International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). The participants were young women workers between the ages of 15-29 years in the service industries. Decisions for Life Campaign, which happened between 2008 and 2012 and focused on 14 developing countries, raised awareness among young women about their employment opportunities and career possibilities, family building and work-family balance.

Our support

Labour Research Service provided support for the campaign in South Africa and over 1000 women participated. The campaign sought to achieve better working conditions for young women in South Africa and to get more of them to join trade unions and seek union leadership positions. We used trade union campaigns, media technologies and research activities to achieve the campaign goals.
